Health Risks of Overweight
It is probably not necessary to mention that overweight in many people causes low self-esteem and self-confidence, while the great majority of people are also aware of health risks of excessive weight. Although overweight can be determined at first sight and some people (especially women) like to overreact excessive body weight is determined by measuring of the body mass index (BMI). Body mass index calculates healthy and unhealthy body weight by dividing a person's body weight by the square of their height comparing the result with the body weight index chart. If the result is higher than 25 a person is overweight or obese. Besides body mass index are also several other ways to measure healthy body weight among are most frequently used measuring of body fat percentage and waist-hip ratio.
Overweight should not be ignored, while losing weight should not be delayed. In healthy people body weight usually varies few pounds up and down and there is no need to be upset over every pound. However, it is important to be aware that all who do not have overweight problems since childhood do not became overweight overnight but usually within moths and even years. For that reason it is very important to measure body weight regularly and act as soon as your trousers do not fit you anymore.
Although everything seems easy in theory that is often not the case in real life. Although nobody wants to be overweight for one or the other reason millions of people all over the world are facing serious problems with excessive body weight and risking numerous diseases and illnesses such as type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular diseases including stoke, osteoarthritis, infertility, etc. Thus weight loss is very important for over all-health and well-being. It is probably not necessary to mention how much better you will feel about your self when you will reach normal body weight.
